Julian Colbeck: Founder and Major Dude

Julian Colbeck spent 25 years as a professional keyboard player, with his own band Charlie who racked up the odd minor US hit in the 1970s, to a slew of tours and albums in the 80s and 90s with prog rockers ABWH/Yes, and Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett.

In addition to one solo album (Back To Bach, on EG/Virgin) Julian has also written numerous books on music and technology including the KEYFAX series of buyers guides, to Rockschool 2, and Zappa, a biography. It was Julian's twin passions of writing about music and actually playing the stuff that led to his original concept of "MIDI Samples" which founded KEYFAX in 1994.

Terry Shields: Manager, Code 'Red' head, Hit Man

Terry earned degrees in both Music and in Business from Illinois Wesleyan University on an electric and upright bass Music Scholarship.

With his first professional music job at age 14, his performing career continues today. He has always appreciated the rich musical heritage of Jazz and Blues from his 'Sweet home' Chicago.

In his 10 years at KEYFAX, Terry's career has evolved as the company has expanded. Responsibilities have included Sales Manager, Clinician, Web design, eCommerce Manager, Hit Man, Marketing specialist, and the general 'Guy-who-gets-things-done'.

Alia Wolfe, art director, web supervisor, DJ

Alia started working at Keyfax in the summer of 1999 as, quite literally, the Jane of All Trades. She has continued this status here and has become a mainstay in the Keyfax family. She attended Cabrillo College to supplement her knowledge for the growing company and graduated in June 2004 with an AS degree in Web Design.

Alia also has a background in music as she learned the piano and the violin when she was young. She turned to DJing as she got older and continues to play to this day. As a part of the local Santa Cruz electronic music scene, she produces and promotes events such as the infamous Full Moon parties and Rain Dance parties such as the infamous ‘Freaker's Ball' and The Rain Dance Campout.

Angel Moon, finance director, sound artist

After attending UC Santa Cruz, Angel has since worked at Keyfax for many years; originally in shipping, subsequently in ordering and stock management, and currently as finance director.

Angel not only works wonders with numbers, she is also a highly skilled and innovative artist and musician. Her artwork adorns the Keyfax offices and her music can be heard on several (“too many” she says) Keyfax media projects.

Angel used to love howling in her bathroom in the dark but we're told this particular avenue of endeavor has come to an end. We deem it wise not to ask why.
