The KeyRingTones division of Keyfax was formed in 2003 under the technical direction of Dave Bristow, a leading figure in synthesizer technology in general and in FM technology in general.

To date KeyRingTones has focused on the SMAF format that is based on an embedded Yamaha chipset currently in use on millions of cellphones (NEC, Motorola etc) around the world.

The KeyRingTones library can be heard at www.keyrigntones.com and spans a mix of musical styles from classical to cutting edge hip hop and synthesizer-based dance music. The division’s high level of expertise on the SMAF format has resulted in Dave Bristow being commissioned to produce a series of technical articles for Yamaha’s own SMAF website.
