Overview

Digidesign Mbox 2 Factory is a compact and powerful recording interface for a studio at home or on the move. Solid in construction and elegant in design, the Mbox 2 is a user-friendly complete recording solution. It provides essential connectivity for microphones and instruments and comes bundled with the award-winning music production software, Pro Tools LE, for Mac and PC computers. The Mbox 2 is completely USB powered, meaning with a laptop you can work on your music anywhere. Most importantly the Mbox 2 has excellent sonic quality, professional pre-amps, and crisp analogue to digital and digital to analogue converters.

Ins and Outs

Each of the two analogue inputs includes an XLR microphone connection, a quarter inch instrument direct input, and a quarter inch line input. Each input has a dedicated volume control. The XLR microphone inputs are equipped with 48-volt phantom power for powering condenser microphones. For monitoring the Mbox 2 has quarter inch unbalanced output connectors for your speaker monitors on the back and a jack for your headphones on the front. The monitor and headphone outputs each have their own volume controls, which is extremely helpful when you have both connected simultaneously. The Mbox 2 has two channels of S/PDIF digital ins and outs for connecting to outboard digital gear and monitoring systems. Also essential to the Mbox 2 feature set is MIDI in and out, allowing you to connect to, record, and control any MIDI device from Pro Tools. In this little box you get all the connectivity and quality a home or portable recording studio would need.

Bundled with Pro Tools LE

Included with the Mbox 2 is the industry leading Pro Tools software. Pro Tools LE is a professional and powerful digital audio workstation for your Mac or PC computer. This software allows you to record, mix, edit, loop, layer, time stretch, and have complete creative freedom to compose your music. Pro Tools LE has built in virtual instruments, software synthesizers, a grand piano, a drum machine, and dynamics processing including the essential Bomb Factory Compressor, reverb, delay, and much more. Pro Tools LE has complete integration for MIDI sequencing and can be used to control external MIDI instruments. Projects made with Pro Tools LE are also compatible with Pro Tools HD and Pro Tools M-Powered so you can bring your projects to any other Pro Tools home or professional studio.
