Overview

Digidesign 003 Rack Factory is a high quality and professional solution for recording and creating music. This rack unit will allow you to record audio from a variety of sources, integrate MIDI, and mix your projects in the industry leading Pro Tools software. The 003 connects to your computer through FireWire to ensure a high speed digital transfer. With eight audio inputs, including four XLR microphone inputs with high quality preamps and professional audio to digital conversion, the 003 will deliver good results every time. This unit’s inputs can be expanded with an ADAT breakout box for sixteen tracks of simultaneous recording. The Digi 003 lives in a solid two unit rack-mountable chassis for integrating into your studio.

Ins and Outs

At the heart of the Digi 003 is high-speed FireWire connectivity to hook up to your Mac or PC computer. With up to 24bit and 96 kHz recording quality your mixes will sound as good as any professional studio. The 003 is equipped with a wide variety of inputs and outputs for full connectivity to your studio. With eight analogue inputs and eight outputs the 003 has a great level of connectivity right out of the box. Channels 1-4 have XLR (with 48 volt phantom power) and quarter-inch direct inputs with dedicated preamps and gain control for microphones and instruments. Channels 5-8 are line level inputs with optional -10 dB or +4 dB switches to get your line level signals just right. Eight more inputs can be added with ADAT expandability for up to sixteen independent input channels, if you think you may need more simultaneous inputs in the future. The Digi 003 has eight line outputs for sending audio to external processing gear or a mixing board. For monitoring you get main monitor outputs plus alternative control room outputs. There are two headphone outputs on the font of the console with individual level controls. Finally the 003 is equipped with one MIDI input and two MIDI outputs for recording MIDI and controlling external MIDI devices.

Included with the Digidesign 003 is the industry leading Pro Tools software. Pro Tools LE is a professional and powerful digital audio workstation for your Mac or PC computer. This software allows you to record, mix, edit, loop, layer, time stretch, and have complete creative freedom to compose your music. Pro Tools LE has built in virtual instruments, software synthesizers, a grand piano, a drum machine, and dynamics processing including the essential Bomb Factory Compressor, reverb, delay, and much more. Pro Tools LE has complete integration for MIDI sequencing and can be used to control external MIDI instruments. Projects made with Pro Tools LE are also compatible with Pro Tools HD and Pro Tools M-Powered so you can bring your projects to any other Pro Tools home or professional studio.
